Orgetorix (GB)

Colt, 3 yrs
Sire: Archipenko
Dam: Helvetia
Trainer: Ralph Beckett

Orgetorix showed steadily progressive form in his three runs. He has a big frame and though he was relatively straightforward to train after his gelding operation, it would be a surprise if he were not capable of significant improvement at three. We were at pains not to ask him too demanding a question, as it is only in the closing stages that immaturity really tells and injuries most often occur. Henceforth a strongly run race on a galloping track should show him in the best light. He will not be rushed in the Spring and will aim to build a sequence through the season. He is likely to restart over one mile. His current rating is just below the threshold for Hong Kong.

His pedigree would interest the purists as he has five crosses of Rough Shod and four of Special. Once again there is more to the pedigree than meets the eye, or indeed the catalogue page. Under the second dam, Gamely Girl is the dam of Decorated Invader, who has won his last two starts including the Grade One Summer Stakes at Woodbine. He was very unlucky in this year’s Breeder's' Cup Juvenile Turf. Native American won his listed race impressively then tragically broke down when leading in a Group Two next time out. This pedigree is much stronger than appreciated.

According to official ratings I have bought five of the top twelve Archipenkos sold at auction, (the only other one I purchased has won three of his last seven races.)
