Schabang (GER)

Filly, 3 yrs
Sire: Pastorius
Dam: Staying Alive

A correct and athletic filly with a straightforward temperament. She is out of a decent German racemare, who achieved a rating equivalent to our OR 96.

She has three siblings: an unraced Adlerflug and two by the same sire. The first of these is a highly talented runner, who won a valuable sales race on the same day as the German Derby, running much faster closing splits. She is a full sister to Schabau, who has earned rave reviews down under and was in the process of becoming the biggest talking horse in Australia. Unfortunately, he got injured and has missed the big races during their Spring carnival.

The other full sister is a two year old this season. She has not run, but has been entered for the German Oaks. This filly should have a significant residual value to Australia due to her pedigree.

Schabang was treated from the outset as a three years old prospect. She had been a model pupil for most of the year, but having achieved the aim of producing a relaxed individual, it took some time to kindle the competitive spirit. She has had the three runs necessary to earn a handicap mark and will be an interesting prospect stepping up in trip in 2021. It should be remembered that neither her full brother, nor full sister reached the racecourse until the Spring of their second season
